As Stewart Roberts watched a local news program reporting the devastating poverty in his community, God released a vision to his heart. “There will always be poor among you,” God said in Deut. 15:11. “Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brother and toward the poor and needy in your land.” Pastor Roberts took that command to heart, and with the help of a faithful few, Manna Projects was born.
Manna Projects is the embodiment of God’s heart toward His people living in the Coachella Valley of Southern California. Since its inception in ‘99, over one million pounds of food and supplies have been delivered to its communities – some with more than 98% of the chilcdren living below the poverty level.
The Project is run completely by donations and volunteers. This not only touches the hearts and minds of those in need, but provides an opportunity for others to get involved in supporting their own communities!
Hunger and poverty plague the earth, but we must not overlook the need in our own backyard. No matter how threatening the economy seems or how many families struggle to meet daily needs, Manna Projects is the hope from heaven to the Coachella Valley that absolutely nothing is impossible for God. “There will always be poor among you,” He said. And “what you do for the least of these, you do for me.”
God is faithful to His Word, and close to His heart are the poor and needy. Click here to get involved with the vision of Manna Project and the new Holiday Meals project.
